Are you watching the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade right now? Maybe you are on Oxford Street, marching in the Parade, or at home watching on the ABC and feeling a little bit off?
When the lights and noise start to trigger structural overwhelm, your brain is essentially buffering. It is trying to process a sensory tsunami all at once. Use these three ndWILD resets to stay in the game.
1. The Filter
The Move: Limit the input. Pop on sunglasses, use earplugs, or just close your eyes for 30 seconds.
The Goal: Give your nervous system a hard reset by cutting the feed.
2. The Anchor
The Move: Get grounded. Lean hard against a wall, sit on the deck, or give your own arms a firm, steady squeeze.
The Goal: Physical pressure sends a “you are here” signal to the brain, reducing the fight-or-flight response.
3. The Spotter
The Move: Zoom in. Pick a Side-Quest like finding three people in lime green or the single best DIY sign in the crowd.
The Goal: Focusing on one tiny detail mutes the chaotic big picture and gives your brain a task it can actually finish.
